Pecanwood Golf & Country Club

Location, as they say is everything, and it doesn’t get much better than playing a round of golf in the shadow of the Magaliesberg, one of the world’s oldest mountain ranges. Almost 100 times older than Everest, they stretch for 120km from Bronkhorstspruit Dam in the east to Rustenburg in the west. Add to that the remarkable views of Hartebeesport Dam, and you’ve got an all round winner.

Pecanwood is the thinking golfer’s course. Currently ranked 26th in Golf Digest’s South Africa’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses (2012), the course’s wide fairways, big greens and mass of bunkers are sure to keep you coming back for more.

One of the six Signature courses designed by Jack Nicklaus in South Africa, Pecanwood is outstanding not just for its magnificent vistas, but for its smart design and layout. Favouring intelligent play over physical strength, the course has something to offer players at every level.

The course is relatively flat, but interest and challenges come from the 111 well-positioned bunkers and strategically placed water features. The Crenshaw bent grass greens are resilient and are cut low and fast.

Pecanwood’s signature hole is the 187 meter, par-three 13th hole which plays over a corner of the dam to a peninsula green.
Compleat Golfer bestowed the 5-star golf experience to Pecanwood Golf and Country Club and it continues to live up to its well-earned reputation.

Clubhouse

Pecanwood’s clubhouse is large and sophisticated, offering discerning golfers more than just a 19th hole. The clubhouse facilities include a health spa, gymnasium, large swimming pool and tennis courts.

World-class Practice Facilities

Designed to assist you with the overall improvement of your game, Pecanwood’s practice facilities include a superbly conditioned driving range with its five greens strategically placed to encourage accuracy and distance control through your full set of clubs.

Improving your short game is a breeze on one of the three practice greens offering a wide range of different shots to test your touch. To improve your skills out of the sand, two of the three practice greens are surrounded by bunkers and two tiers of clean cut grass hone your pitching skills as you hit longer shots onto the greens. The practice greens provide an ideal spot to test the speed of the greens before you start out on the course.
