Shamwari is a unique, educational and fun family safari. The colonial-style, Riverdene Lodge with nine inter-leading luxury rooms, rim flow pool, supervised playroom, spacious green lawns and jungle gym facility will ensure entertainment for the whole family.
Upon arrival, the children’s co-ordinator will discuss activity options with the family taking the family’s size, children’s ages and the weather into consideration. Child minding facilities are available at an additional cost for children younger than four years as they are too young to join game drives.

The luxurious Relaxation Retreats are situated at Long Lee Manor, Eagles Crag Lodge, Bayethe Lodge and Lobengula Lodge. Treatments can be arranged for guests staying at Riverdene Lodge and Bushman’s River Lodge.
Long Lee Manor - originally built in 1910, the Colonial Edwardian Manor House offers guests refined comfort, congenial service and enticing cuisine in the African bush. Long Lee Manor is home to one of the Reserve’s luxurious spas and accommodates 38 guests in 15 elegant en-suite rooms and 3 luxury suites.
Bushman’s River Lodge - this Victorian homestead, on a unique historical site, offers an intimate atmosphere that is a welcoming reminder of true South African hospitality. Beautifully decorated in an artistic ethnic theme, this lodge is another representation of the true uniqueness of Shamwari. With just four suites it is ideal for small groups or friends or couples and offers a very private experience.
Riverdene Lodge – this restored settlers lodge has nine air-conditioned suites with nine inter-leading luxury rooms which have a small lounge, satellite television, and telephone. There is a rim flow swimming pool, a supervised playroom, spacious green lawns and a jungle gym facility, this colonial lodge ensures entertainment for the whole family.
Bayethe Lodge – experience true five-star luxury in this stone walled and thatch roofed lodge features a large deck area overlooking a waterhole. The double-volume lounge and dining area spills out onto the deck, adjacent to the outside boma where traditional fireside dining under the stars is enjoyed. There are nine luxuriously appointed tented suites with en-suite bathrooms.
Lobengula Lodge – twelve guests are accommodated in style in Lobengula Lodge which is tucked away deep in the valley bushveld. This ethnically decorated thatched lodge offers guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway and a wellness centre with spa.
Eagles Crag - nestled in a valley and providing the ultimate luxury for the most discerning of travellers, each of the lodge’s superior detached suites has been built to maximize the privacy of the guest in the most tranquil of settings. Each suite has spacious bathrooms, with his and hers vanities and separate indoor and outdoor showers and a private deck with plunge pool. One of the reserves spas is located in the main Eagles Crag Lodge.
Sarili Lodge – this environmentally friendly luxury lodge in the southern region of the Reserve has five suites and caters exclusively for families. The private African thatch villa boasts a spacious deck overlooking the Bushman’s River with expansive views of the plains and features a child-friendly swimming pool, dining and lounge area, courtyard barbeque area and special children’s menu. Child minders are available at an additional cost.
