Tanda Tula Safari Camp

Tanda Tula is the oldest safari camp in Timbavati. It is steeped in history and is sanctuary to Africa’s Big Five. One of the prime attractions in the Timbavati is the opportunity to witness the rare and majestic white lions of Timbavati in their natural habitat. There is a strong focus on conservation at Tanda Tula. The Lodge is also home to the Save the Elephants Project, monitoring elephant movements with GPS tracking devices across the reserve, the Greater Kruger National Park into Mozambique and Zimbabwe. This non-profit organisation was started by Dr Ian Douglas Hamilton, one of the world’s leading authorities on African elephants.

This glorious tented camp offers guests a truly luxurious wilderness experience. Exquisite fabrics and warm African bushveld hues are used throughout the communal and private spaces at the Lodge. Everything has been thought of in the pursuit of guests’ happiness and comfort. The focus here is on creating unforgettable experiences in game viewing, hospitality and cuisine.

Listen to the calls of the wild as you enjoy a mouth-watering breakfast at the Lodge’s bush site followed by a guided walk back to camp. Then languish alongside the infinity pool overlooking a watering hole which is regularly visited by a myriad of wildlife. In the evenings share the stories of the day around the camp fire in the boma where award-winning dinners are prepared by the Lodge’s excellent executive chefs.

Highlights at Tanda Tula include an overnight walking safari – a definite once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is not to be missed. The Lodge is the first Lodge in the Timbavati to offer this spectacular tour. For a special romantic treat why not book a ‘Starbed’ at the Machaton Dam Hide.
